- The head of the Public Transport Authority, Dr. Rumaih bin Muhammad Al-Rumaih, noted that installing truck tracking devices and monitoring their weights is considered one of the executive program procedures in support of the Goods Transport and Freight Brokers Regulations, which entered into force at the beginning of the current Hijri year (1440), which the Authority launched with the aim of regulating the goods transport sector by trucks. Raising the professional competence of drivers and the operational efficiency of trucks, raising the level of road safety and preserving the environment, enhancing the level of competitiveness of the sector to provide the best services, and regulating the contractual relationship between all parties to the transportation process.
- He stated that the decision to make it mandatory to install tracking and weight measuring devices in trucks will contribute to raising and controlling the level of safety, efficiency and quality of service, in addition to preserving the quality of roads and reducing their impact on excessive loads, as this technology makes it easier to determine the location of the truck, monitor speed, and monitor weight and load. Authorized regulations.
- He pointed out that this technology allows monitoring the working hours of truck drivers, and ensuring the regularity of the trucks and their drivers, which achieves the integration of work with partner government agencies, such as the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Administration of Traffic, Road Security, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and other partner and concerned agencies. By raising the levels of safety and efficiency on the Kingdom’s roads, in addition to contributing to achieving the Kingdom’s strategic goal of transforming it into a global logistics center by employing modern technologies and developing the transportation industry to achieve Vision 2030.
